I usually start making it 6-8 months before the wedding, but the design process can start anytime before that. I usually advise that 12 months is the perfect timescale. It gives you plenty of time to think things over and make your decisions before making begins!
It’s always worth asking! As I make everything myself, through my quieter periods I can sometimes take on work that is needed with a fast turnaround.
That’s a kind of ‘How long is a piece of string’ question as the cost does depend on your final design, the complexity of the work involved and the choice of fabric. As a guide, my current collections range from £1200 to £3500. With the bespoke service, a quote would be given at either initial consultation or included in the design pack.
I appreciate it can be a very daunting choice to have your dress made, but we put in so much groundwork initially by the time we get to making we know we are on the right path. The great thing about having a gown made is that you do see it evolve, you see it at every stage which means we can change, tweak, and alter it as we go along. I would never allow a dress to go out that a client wasn’t 100% in love with.
If you are planning on losing weight, we can schedule your fitting timetable nearer your Wedding date. Just keep me informed of your plans and we can make sure fittings are done as and when you’re ready.
Again, every dress is different but as an average, I tend to advise brides to budget anywhere between £150 – £500 for alterations.
For bespoke and alterations you need to bring the shoes you intend to wear with the dress and most importantly the bra (if you intend to wear one).
For alterations, if your dress has arrived boxed, please bring a hanger and a dress bag as I have no space for box storage at my studio.
As my studio is quite small and to keep the experience nice and relaxed, I would always advise only bringing 1-2 guests who you trust.
On booking, I ask for a 50% deposit. Final payment is due on completion but before the gown is collected. If you wish to pay the balance off in smaller payments at fittings, you’re welcome to do so.
